Top 7 Travel Essentials For Disney World 2024

We are so excited to be visiting the most magical place on earth in February, and we're already checking things off our packing list so we don't forget any of our essentials. This blog post is a comprehensive guide showcasing our top 7 travel essentials for Disney World. Hopefully this can give you some ideas for your upcoming trip.

If you see anything we left out, make sure to tell us in the comments so we can add it to our must-have list!

Travel Essentials For Disney World:

The Perfect Travel Bags

For this exciting trip, Jenni has opted for a backpack and Joanie has chosen her favorite crossbody bag.

The backpack Jenni is actually bringing is the Selfie bag from Betsey Johnson, which is unfortunately no longer sold. We did find a very similar, more basic option on Amazon that will work just as well. The backpack keeps you handsfree and allows you some extra space to store any items you may purchase while shopping.

Joanie's crossbody is the iconic Travelon crossbody from their Heritage collection. It comes in three colors (we have the sage), and features slash-proof fabric, locking zippers, and an adjustable strap. It's the perfect size for carrying the essentials, and is still stylish for all of our fashionista travelers.

Sunscreen

Since we'll be outside for most of our time at Walt Disney World, we want to make sure our skin stays protected. This is especially true for Joanie who has a history of skin cancer. There are plenty of brands to choose from, and we always recommend going with what you love the most. For us, Neutrogena has always been a go-to and remains a staple in our skincare.

Dermatologists recommend an SPF of at least 30, which will protect you from about 97% of the suns UVB rays. This and more information can be found on the American Academy of Dermatology website.

Good Walking Shoes

Our most-worn shoes are all from Skechers. For most of our travels we're worn the Skechers Go Walk (summer) or Skechers Shin Digs (winter - no longer sold), but we recently found the Skechers Slip-ins and we're in love.

They maintain the typical Skechers level of comfort with the ease of just slipping your foot in, hands-free. There is a little bit of break-in time with the harder, shoe-horn-like piece on the back, but after a few wears everything fits just right.

Collapsible Water Bottle

travel essentials for disney world collapsible water bottle

We've read in numerous blogs and seen in several vlogs that Disney World offers water fill-up stations where you can fill up your own water bottles. This can save you some serious cha-ching by refilling a bottle instead of buying plastic bottle after plastic bottle at the snack carts. That's why we're choosing to bring a collapsible water bottle.

We haven't purchased our collapsible water bottle yet (so if you have suggestions, let us know), but we found this awesome option from Opard. We love how compact it gets, and we'll definitely be looking into getting this before our trip!

Weather Protection

No matter when you visit Disney World, the weather can be pretty unpredictable. Rather than bring a bulky rain jacket, we're packing a slim poncho to protect us from the rain.

These are great to just whip out when you need them, and pack away when you don't. Hagon has a great five-pack disposable option on Amazon. Note, these are not made to last, so if you're looking for something to reuse for years to come, here is another option that seems more durable from FROGG TOGGS.

First Aid Kit

Accidents happen, and we happen to be very accident-prone. For this reason, we try to take a first aid kit on any road trip we adventure on. This just gives us peace of mind that IF something minor were to happen, we can handle it without a panic.

If you're not looking to pack an entire first aid kit for your next trip, just packing a few band-aids can be a great idea for those occasional slips and falls.

External Charger

When you're traveling, your phone can often be glued to your hands. Taking photos and videos. Face-timing friends and family. Checking maps or wait times for rides. You have to be aware of your battery life at all times, because the last thing you want is for your lifeline to die in the middle of the day.

We found two great external charger options. Both from Anker, but one that requires a cable and one that plugs directly into your phone. If you're going for the one that requires a cable, don't forget to bring one with you!
