In case you didn't know... it's Election Night!
Today was my first time voting and, yes, I kept my sticker. It was an exciting moment to exercise my right and freedom that comes from living in a democratic society. Not only did I get to cast my ballot, I also got to experience Election Night from behind the headlines. I was the liaison between reporters live on location and our producer who was working to make sure all live interviews happened when they needed to happen. The concept of stress can be fully understood when you're running around the newsroom, trying not to yell because mics are live, and trying to communicate with people who are to busy to pay attention and people who aren't even in the studio. Interviews were edited out of order. Some graphics didn't have numbers. The prompter was moving too fast or too slow. People were confused, angry, frustrated, hyped on caffeine and adrenaline, and just ready for Election Night to be finished. At the end of the night nothing had fallen apart. We survived and now the question becomes... Who's the next Commander and Chief?
